MEOVV’s Anna is at the center of controversy after a clip from a recent fansign went viral. The clip shows an older male fan meeting the 19-year-old idol, which has divided netizens sharply.
The issue gained traction when a post called out the presence of a “middle aged bald man” asking Anna for a cat pose during the event. The post quickly went viral and ignited a heated debate online.
Some fans called the situation weird, pointing out that fansigns usually cost significant money and questioning why an older man would seek photos with a teenager.
“I was gonna say this is normal until I saw that he asked for the cat pose. An older guy can appreciate young talent, he can go there and tell her that her music is nice or healing or whatever, but asking for poses is a no no. This applies if genders were reversed too,” said Twitter user ☆Yüki☆.
Others labeled the fan’s behavior creepy regardless of intent.
“‘as long as he’s not being creepy’ wanting to meet girls half his age in one on one settings like this is weird and creepy no matter how you look at it,” wrote @mommywheein.
Yet many defended the male fan, emphasizing that K-pop is for everyone and older fans have a right to attend.
“Older people can enjoy K-pop too you know. As long as he isn’t being really creepy I have no issue with this,” said @sugarshaz19.
