Xiaojun of NCT’s WayV shocks fans by paying nearly $14K for birthday celebration meals
SM’s NCT WayV member Xiaojun went viral after his unique birthday event on August 7. Instead of the usual birthday fan meeting, he hosted a special party at popular hot pot chain HaiDiLao.
Fans entered a raffle by answering questions about Xiaojun to win a spot. The idol joined fans intermittently, even tossing noodles and bringing items to tables. There was a hilarious moment when Xiaojun accidentally dropped a fan’s photocard into the soup and had to fish it out.
The big shock? Xiaojun paid for all 240 fans’ meals himself, presenting a receipt that looked like a scarf.
Estimates place his spending at around ₩9.6 million KRW (~$6,930 USD), but many fans believe it was closer to ₩19.6 million KRW (~$14,100 USD).
Fans praised him on Twitter, calling the party legendary and the first of its kind.
“Wait, he apparently spent like 19.6 million won???? Hold on a second…………………. this is freaking legendary. Seriously, Dejun (Xiaojun’s real name) said this might be the first birthday party of its kind in the world, and I think he’s right. He’s such an amazing guy.”
