BTS V fans honor late dog Yeontan on what would have been his 8th birthday
Fans of BTS V came together on September 7th KST to celebrate Yeontan’s birthday. This year is the first since the beloved dog passed away. Instead of just memories, fans made donations worldwide to animal welfare groups.
Yeontan was often called the “eighth member of BTS” by ARMY. Despite poor health from birth, he became one of the most famous celebrity pets. V shared his love openly, once saying:
“Tan was not healthy from birth. I’m so thankful he endured, held on, and stayed alive. I hope we can make many more fun memories together for the rest of his life. I want to see adult Tan,”

In December 2024, V revealed Yeontan’s passing on Instagram:
“The reason I’m writing today is because Tan has recently embarked on a long journey to the dog star.”

Yeontan’s fame went beyond BTS fans. Media named him alongside Ariana Grande’s dog and Tom Holland’s dog as some of the most famous pets alive. Metro UK and CBS’s Entertainment Tonight host Denny Directo called Yeontan “one of the most famous dogs in the world.”
On his birthday, hashtags like #ForeverWithYeontan and #tannie trended worldwide on Twitter, showing how much fans still cherish him.
Fans marked the day with charity donations in Yeontan’s name:
- V Union and KTH_UK donated to the RSPCA in the UK.
- BTS V Spain gave to the Vegan Sanctuary Foundation in Spain.
- Taehyung India supported the AWCS Foundation for flood-affected animals.
- Brazil’s V CREW BR donated to CEL, a local animal protection group.
- Kim Taehyung Myanmar gave to Oasis Shelter for abandoned pets.
Fans made sure Yeontan’s legacy lives on – helping animals across the globe.
