Yoo Jae Suk is stirring up speculation after a major real estate investment. The beloved TV star recently announced plans to construct a new building on his two plots of land in Nonhyun-dong, Seoul. This move has fans buzzing about his future endeavors.
An exclusive report from Money Today reveals that Yoo Jae Suk took out a loan of nearly ₩8.00 billion KRW (about $5.74 million USD), using the land as collateral. Construction began in May 2023 and is set to wrap up in February 2024. The building will feature three basement levels and four above-ground floors, registered as a “neighborhood living facility.” Speculation is rife that it could serve as an office or rental space.
Yoo Jae Suk also registered a real estate business named JS607 in November 2023, marking a significant shift from his previous disinterest in real estate investments. Previously, he stated on You Quiz On The Block that he avoided real estate due to a lack of knowledge.
Fans are playfully throwing out ideas for the new property. Some hope he’ll open a café where fans can chat with him and potentially film content for YouTube. Excited comments include:
“Is this going to be the set for Pinggyego?!”
“Maybe he’ll use that space to shoot Pinggyego there, LOL.”
“Please make the first floor a café—I need to go.”
In June 2023, Yoo Jae Suk purchased the land for ₩19.8 billion KRW (about $14.2 million USD). He bought it outright, as no mortgage was registered at the time. Notably, he evicted all tenants from the previous structure and had it demolished to make way for his new vision.
Yoo Jae Suk’s real estate ambitions have fans on the edge of their seats, eager to see what he’ll do next.
