Bekah, the former main rapper of After School, is facing backlash after revealing her struggles with extreme dieting in a candid Instagram video.
On September 23, she posted the video alongside the caption, “K-Pop and Weight,” detailing her past battles with body image while in the industry.
“During my time in K-Pop, I’ve always struggled with my weight. I had different diets and was obsessed with a specific look and size, making everything unsustainable.”

She admitted to not knowing how to lose weight properly back then but has since found healthier ways to maintain her body.
“It took time (and I’m still learning every day), but my biggest lesson is never to give up and respect your body.”

Born in 1989, Bekah debuted in 2009 and left After School in 2011. She later shifted her focus back to design studies in Hawaii and recently announced her marriage.
This revelation has sparked discussions on the extreme measures many K-Pop idols take to meet beauty standards. Kwon Eun Bi, dubbed the “Waterbomb Goddess,” confessed to eating only apple slices while dieting. TWICE’s Momo admitted to dropping 7 kg (15 lbs) in just 10 days by only consuming ice cubes.
Most recently, WJSN’s Dayoung spoke out about her own weight loss journey, which included protein shakes and salads, leading to serious health issues due to a weakened immune system.
The extreme dieting culture in K-Pop continues to raise concerns about the health implications for idols.
