Peng Jinyu from Boys II Planet is facing backlash after a series of derogatory social media posts surfaced. The former contestant, eliminated in episode 8, allegedly targeted BTS’s Jungkook and K-pop groups aespa and TWICE with hate speech.
Some of the inflammatory content included mocking Jungkook with comments like:
“What kind of ‘top’ is he? Top at cheating on his girlfriend? Top at being lovey-dovey with Mijoo?”
He also participated in Weibo polls that listed aespa members with offensive options, inciting outrage among fans. The situation escalated as netizens highly criticized his behavior, declaring it unacceptable.
Despite his elimination, Peng Jinyu issued an apology shortly after the show concluded:
“Because of my past remarks, I have hurt many people. I sincerely apologize to everyone who got hurt due to this…I admit that it was my fault.”
Responses to his apology have been mixed. While some followers feel he should be given a chance due to his age, many fans remain unforgiving.
Comments on social media reflect this divide:
“Girl, f**k him. Nothing could justify his past actions,” tweeted one user.
In contrast, others argued for leniency, saying:
“Now they can finally stop harassing him for being a teenager on the internet.”
As the controversy develops, Jinyu’s future in the K-pop scene remains uncertain. Will he be able to bounce back from this scandal? Only time will tell.
