Baekhyun, a member of EXO and a solo artist, has shared a Q&A interview in celebration of his fifth mini album, "Essence of Reverie." The album features seven tracks, with the title song "Elevator," a pop R&B track that likens the heart of a loved one to an elevator, encapsulating a romantic vibe.
Ahead of its release, Baekhyun expressed his thoughts through his agency, INB100.

Q. How do you feel about releasing your fifth mini album today?
Baekhyun noted, "I learned and felt a lot while being directly involved in the making of this album. I’m really happy — I think it represents an upgraded version of myself!"
Q. What core message are you trying to convey with "Essence of Reverie"?
He explained, "I want to be an artist who adapts and evolves — for my listeners and for Eri (the nickname for EXO-Ls)."
Q. Why did you select "Elevator" as the title track?
"I loved the idea of expressing a loved one’s heart as an elevator," he shared, "and it amplifies my youthful charm."
Q. Any highlights from the "Elevator" music video?
Baekhyun recalled, "Filming felt like hanging out with friends! I had great chemistry with the dancers, and fans should watch closely for continuity with unreleased clips."
Q. What’s the highlight of the title track’s stage?
He cited "the facial expressions, choreography that captures the song’s mood, and the polished melody line."
Q. Why did you pre-release "Chocolate"?
"I decided on that early release because I felt it was too precious to remain just a B-side," he explained.
Q. Can you explain the character ‘Sweet-Sleep’ featured in the album?
Baekhyun wanted to create a new character that aligns with the album’s theme of "dream" and "fantasy." "I hope Sweet-Sleep helps improve your sleep quality!" he added.
Q. How do you wish global listeners perceive you?
"I want to be remembered as ‘fan-loving,’ ‘reliable,’ ‘consistent,’ and ‘humble.’"
Q. Is there a particular track that stands out to you?
"All songs are precious, but ‘Black Dreams’ is especially memorable," he shared.
Q. Why collaborate with artist Colde again?
"Colde inspires me musically, and we have great chemistry," he stated.
Q. How would you describe this album in one word?
"Love. It represents the love I receive from fans," he described.
Baekhyun is also set to embark on his first solo world tour in June, aiming to connect with fans globally. "I’ll do my best to make sure the wait feels worth it," he promised.
