(G)I-DLE has made a striking return with their new title track, “Good Thing,” from the mini album We are. The group held a press conference in Seoul on May 19 to discuss their latest release.
During the event, leader Soyeon expressed her desire to explore new concepts, stating, “I wanted to explore a concept we’ve never done before.” The song narrates the bold story of confronting a cheating partner, with Soyeon emphasizing its daring lyricism and fresh perspective as a female artist.
Yuqi described her initial reaction to the demo as electric, saying, “It felt like I got shocked. I asked, ‘Is this autotune real?’ It was so different from what we’ve done before.” Minnie echoed this sentiment, noting the nostalgic autotune sound reminded her of the K-pop tracks that first drew her to the genre.
We are marks (G)I-DLE’s first comeback after all members renewed their contracts. It is also significant as the first album where each member contributed to songwriting and composition. The title track “Good Thing” blends retro elements with confident storytelling, marking a bold new chapter in the group’s musical evolution.
