On the May 20th episode of SBS’s variety show TWICE member Sana reflected on a pivotal moment during her trainee days, revealing she almost abandoned her K-pop dream. The episode of Whenever Possible, which has gained popularity this season, aired at 9 p.m. KST and featured TWICE members Sana and Jihyo as “Gap Friends,” bringing fortune to Seoul’s Geumho-dong neighborhood.
Sana shared her past struggles, recalling thoughts of sneaking out to return to Japan. “Back then, I used to think about sneaking out in the early hours,” she said. Her plans, however, were thwarted as her passport was at the company. “To escape, I would have had to break into the company, which wasn’t exactly realistic,” she added with a smile.
She humorously noted she intended to run away with fellow member Momo, joking, “TWICE could have ended up as seven members instead of nine.”
Throughout the episode, Sana showcased her Osaka humor. When asked about the reactions of Osaka natives, she said, “I used to, but in Korea it became a thing… so I decided not to be ‘one of them.’ I don’t react like that anymore.”
A game segment led to a memorable moment when Sana mentioned “Yangnyeom gejang (marinated crab),” potentially creating a new meme to rival her earlier “cheese kimbap” catchphrase. She later admitted, “That was seriously nerve-racking,” amusing both Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok.
