Kim Sae Ron’s Heartfelt Plea: A Call for Help Amid Struggles
In a poignant turn of events, South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron reached out to her close friends in a desperate message shared on her private Instagram account just hours before her passing. The emotional post, which surfaced through an exclusive report by SBS FunE, was uploaded early on September 8 at around 2 a.m., shedding light on her struggles during a tumultuous time.
In the heartbreaking message, Kim urged her friends to "screenshot this, and share this if I die," emphasizing the support she received from specific people. She expressed her disappointment toward those who left her during her most challenging moments, hoping they’d reflect on their past interactions with her.
The actress candidly addressed her situation, stating, "I took a breathalyzer test and it came out as 0. Although the blood test showed a high level [of alcohol], that was from the day before." Despite not experiencing a blackout, she mentioned she took full responsibility for the damages incurred, closing her message with a weary acceptance: "Anyway, I won’t be hurting anymore."
The alarm was raised just ten minutes after her post when two friends saw it and rushed to check on her at home. One acquaintance shared with SBS FunE that Kim had been juggling multiple jobs, from acting coaching to part-time roles in cafés, flower shops, and bars, yet still faced significant financial difficulties.
In the wake of her struggles, it’s been revealed that two members of a well-known idol group, whom Kim had confided in before, each lent her approximately ₩100 million KRW (about $72,300 USD). Additionally, two other entertainers—identified only as Actor A and singer-turned-actor B—also provided financial assistance after learning about her hardships.
Singer C disclosed, "I lent Kim Sae Ron ₩12.0 million KRW (about $8,680 USD) in the second half of 2023 and a little under ₩8.00 million KRW (about $5,790 USD) around May 2024, which was sent to her family’s account."
Further Aline, SBS FunE reported that Kim borrowed ₩50.0 million KRW (about $36,200 USD) from a businessman acquaintance, while her agency, Management Run, forgave approximately ₩60.0 million KRW (about $43,400 USD) in medical and surgery expenses she had accumulated.
