SEVENTEEN Hits No.1 on Billboard Japan with ‘Shohikigen’
SEVENTEEN has secured the top spot on Billboard Japan’s mid-year ‘Top Singles Sales’ chart with their fourth Japanese single, ‘Shohikigen (消費期限). This is a huge achievement for the group, surpassing local artists and marking a rare success for a non-Japanese act.
Billboard Japan’s ‘2025 Mid-Year Charts’ revealed that ‘Shohikigen’ sold 831,553 physical copies from November 25, 2024, to May 25, 2025. PLEDIS Entertainment stated, “We’re incredibly thankful to CARATs for always supporting us. Thanks to you, we were able to achieve this amazing result.”
Released in November last year, ‘Shohikigen’ debuted at No.1 on Oricon’s weekly singles ranking and has been certified ‘Triple Platinum’, moving over 750,000 units since.
SEVENTEEN’s success isn’t just limited to singles. Their fifth full-length album, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’, debuted at No.1 on Billboard Japan’s June 4 charts, including ‘Hot Albums’, ‘Artist 100’, and more. The album achieved over 2.52 million copies sold in its first week, setting a record for K-pop releases in 2025.
The title track ‘THUNDER’ also dominates Korean charts, topping Bugs, Melon’s ‘Top 100’, and Circle Chart’s digital weekly chart for May 25–31. All 15 tracks from the album have charted, showing strong fan support.
On June 5, SEVENTEEN won first place on Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ with ‘THUNDER’, their second music show win following MBC M’s ‘Show Champion’. The group expressed gratitude, saying, “It’s a happy 10th anniversary. We dedicate this honor to everyone who’s supported us.”
Their comeback promotions continue, with a performance lined up on MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’ on June 7. Stay tuned for more updates on SEVENTEEN’s explosive journey!
