Will True Beauty Return for Season 2? Both Yes and No

Will "True Beauty" Ever Return With Season 2? Well... Yes And No

True Beauty fans are dealing with mixed news about Season 2. Rumors recently blew up claiming the K-Drama sequel was confirmed, but the truth is more complicated.

The original True Beauty (starring Moon Ga Young, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo, and Hwang In Youp) aired from December 2020 to February 2021. It wrapped with a wholesome ending, adapting the then-incomplete webtoon by Yaongyi.

Fans have been itching for a second season, especially since the webtoon finally ended in June 2023. A viral TikTok claimed Season 2 was on the way, even showing a supposed trailer that was really just a recap of Season 1. The TikTok’s December 2023 release date was false.

Reports on a live-action Season 2 are all over the place. Some sources say production began as early as April 2021. Others note the webtoon’s completion could spark a new season. Yet, there’s been no official confirmation from the production studios or the original cast.

“The production of ‘True Beauty’ season 2 began in April 2021. The series is produced by Studio Dragon and Bon Factory, and directed by Kim Sang-hyub. The filming is expected to take place in various locations in South Korea.”

“Since the webtoon is already complete, many are anticipating whether the sequel for the drama is also in the works. However, Yaongyi is yet to confirm if ‘True Beauty’ Season 2 is ready for production, if the original cast will reprise their roles, and who are the new characters to be introduced in the possible second installment of the famous K-drama.”

“If ‘True Beauty’ gets picked up for a second season, it would likely premiere in 2023.”

— Asap Land

Instead, what is confirmed is a second season of the True Beauty animated version, which aired from August to October 2024. The animation team announced a follow-up season with no release date yet.

This means fans waiting desperately for a live-action Season 2 will have to hold out longer. Some are even mixing clips from actors’ other projects into false Season 2 fan edits online, showing how deep the wish goes.

In February 2025, the only official True Beauty Season 2 announcement was for the animation—not the K-Drama starring Moon Ga Young and Cha Eunwoo.

Fans remain hopeful, but for now, the live-action sequel remains unconfirmed.
