Netizens Respond to P Nation’s New Four-Member Girl Group Baby DONT Cry, Created by (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon

Baby DONT Cry Teaser

Baby DONT Cry is facing backlash over their name. The new girl group under P Nation launched with their first concept teaser and social media channels, but fans aren’t thrilled.

The controversy erupted when netizens noticed the initials "BDC" used for Baby DONT Cry. This abbreviation was already associated with a boy group that disbanded, prompting some to criticize the rebirth of the label without considering the previous group’s legacy.

"I was a BDC fan, so seeing the tag on this made me sad."

Even more confusion arose when fans pointed out that “Baby Don’t Cry” is also a title from the girl group cosmosy, set to drop a song soon. Add in the fact that EXO has a familiar track by the same name, and it’s a mess.

They’ve got a debut set for June 23 at 6 PM KST, and a pre-release track on June 16 at midnight KST.

Check out their teaser here:

Promotional materials hint at a vintage and edgy vibe with retro logos featuring four cherries for the four members. The tagline, “You will regret it if you let go of your chance right now,” is believed to tie into their pre-release song.

Fans are split on the name choice:

"Even if BDC disbanded, that name already exists—why reuse that as an abbreviation?"

"Wait, that’s the group name, not a song title??"

Some commenters even suggested new names:

"If the name were Queen Never Cry, I could at least chalk it up to a meme…"

Regardless of the criticism, anticipation for Baby DONT Cry is growing.
