Building Confidence in Acting

“I Gained Confidence in Acting”

Yook Sung-jae wraps up ‘The Haunted Palace’ with glowing reflections on his challenging role in the series. The SBS fantasy-romance wrapped its finale on June 7, and Yook is feeling grateful and renewed in his passion for acting.

Yook portrayed Yoon Gap, a royal inspector, and Kang Chul, an ancient serpent spirit (Imoogi). His dual performance has been celebrated as one of the most impressive of his career. The drama dominated ratings, consistently ranking No.1 in its time slot, and even soared to No.1 in 89 countries globally.

“This project means a lot to me,” Yook stated. “Through this drama, I gained real confidence in my acting, and I also overcame my fear of trying new genres.”

As his first historical drama, the role pushed Yook to adopt new expressions and tones. He expressed a sense of accomplishment in breaking through personal limits.

He acknowledged his co-stars Kim Ji-yeon and Kim Ji-hoon, saying they brought out the best in him.

“Though I still have a lot to improve, I’m grateful that so many viewers embraced the story.”

Yook is set to shift focus back to music. His first mini album, ‘All About Blue’, is dropping on June 19 at 6 PM KST. Following that, he’ll host a two-day fan concert, ‘THE BLUE JOURNEY’, on June 21 and 22. The teaser photos have stirred up fan excitement.

Yook closed with a heartfelt message:

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the viewers and fans who supported ‘The Haunted Palace’. I’ll keep challenging myself with new genres and roles, so please continue to follow me.”
