Karina is facing controversy after a social media post stirred political speculation.
On May 27, Karina shared a photo of herself in a red jacket with the number “2” on it, adding a rose emoji. This caught fans’ attention and sparked rumors about possible political implications related to Korea’s presidential election, nicknamed the “Rose Election.”

“I’ll be more mindful and careful moving forward.”
Her agency, SM Entertainment, also intervened, stating:
“Karina’s post was simply a part of her daily life and had no political meaning or intent whatsoever. Once she realized it could be misunderstood, she deleted it immediately.”
To put it all behind her, Karina reached out to fans on June 9, thanking them for their patience ahead of aespa’s upcoming comeback.
She wrote:
“You waited a long time. I practiced and prepared really hard to meet your expectations. I’m so sorry and thankful for making you worry. Are you doing well?”
