NCT WISH is under fire as SM Entertainment’s security guards face fresh backlash for violent behavior.
The controversy began when a fan posted on June 13 about being physically assaulted by a WISH security guard at the airport. The post quickly went viral, hitting over 1.3 million views.
The fan wrote:
“Hello everyone, I apologize for disturbing you with such matters. Today at the airport, I experienced something that still shocks and terrifies me to this day. A WISH security guard gestured for me to step aside… but when I couldn’t pass through easily due to the crowd, he pushed me against the wall with force.
I was pushed in pain and turned to him, saying ‘Please don’t push anymore’… He actually raised his hand and struck my head with great force. That was too heavy, and my head is still clearly uncomfortable to this.”“Currently…I engaged in justifiable defense… The security guard even wanted to continue attacking me further. If it weren’t for a rational manager promptly stopping him, unimaginable consequences might have occurred… I’m still trembling when I think about it now.”
“There were no WISH members around… I have kept evidence of my injuries… This is not just about protecting myself; it’s also about telling everyone that no one should be treated so brutally without just cause.”
Soon after, other witnesses spoke out about the aggressive tactics of SM’s security, even against non-fans.
One Twitter user said:
“The SM security guards are really taking it too far these days. I don’t know the OP, but I’ve always wanted to talk about this. When I arrived in Seoul, a non-fan tried to escape a fan crowd but was grabbed and pushed outside forcefully by a security guard. They were hurt badly, with blood on the wound. If throwing someone like trash and slamming them into a door isn’t violence, what is?”
Another account claimed:
“These guys are so annoying. I went on a business trip and rode business class, but a WISH guard saw me in line and pushed me, thinking I was a fan girl. I got mad and stepped on their foot. My male colleague had to confront the guard before he apologized. They look down on women.”
Netizens condemned the guards harshly:
- “You can’t even call them security guards… those are gangsters.”
- “They think all young women are fans and just beat them up.”
- “Who cares who they are, just don’t cause problems to the public.”
- “Why does SM keep using a violent security company?”
- “Report these guys immediately.”
This isn’t the first time SM’s guards have drawn attention. They previously faced backlash for using force on a fan who bumped into Hearts2Heart’s Ian.
SM Entertainment has yet to officially respond to the latest round of accusations. The situation is still unfolding.
