NewJeans’ attempts to break free from ADOR hit a brick wall today. A Seoul High Court ruling blocked their bid for independent activities for a second time.
The 25-2 Civil Division dismissed NewJeans’ injunction appeal earlier this morning. This follows an earlier ruling by the Seoul Central District Court that upheld ADOR‘s right to manage the group and restrict them from signing advertising contracts on their own.
NewJeans immediately objected to this decision and filed an appeal. But now, the appellate court has sided with ADOR, leaving the members unable to engage in any solo projects without the agency’s approval.
Amid the legal drama, the members are clear about their stance. They have no plans to return to ADOR. During the recent hearing about the group’s exclusive contract, they stated,
“The trust between us has completely collapsed. We have crossed a river of no return."
This comment suggests reconciliation is unlikely, as the situation continues to heat up.
