Former NCT’s Taeil faces court over aggravated rape charges

Former NCT member Taeil is standing trial for aggravated rape. The Seoul Central District Court began hearings on June 18, with prosecution demanding a seven-year prison sentence.

The case involves three defendants, including Taeil. Prosecution revealed details on the timing of the crime, attempts to conceal it, and the victim’s nationality.

Taeil and his legal team asked the court for leniency, citing a settlement with the Chinese victim.

Taeil submit a statement of self-surrender to the police. He also went through the difficult process of reaching an agreement with the victim, who is Chinese, and even received a letter from the victim stating she did not want further punishment levied.

Taeil remains under investigation without detention after the court ruled the defendants unlikely to flee or destroy evidence.
