Former NCT Taeil indicted and confesses to aggravated rape
Former NCT member Taeil and two others were indicted on February 28, 2025, by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office for aggravated rape under the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. The charges involve the sexual assault of an intoxicated foreign woman in June 2024.
Taeil and his accomplices confessed to the crime during their first trial on June 18, 2025. Prosecutors are seeking seven-year prison sentences for each defendant.
The prosecution detailed the incident occurred around 2:33 a.m. on June 13, 2024, in Itaewon. Taeil and his two friends met the victim, an intoxicated foreign woman, at a bar. After drinking, they forced her into a taxi and took her to a residence in Seoul’s Bangbae area. Between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m., the trio gang-raped the unconscious victim.
The assault was premeditated. Messages showed the suspects targeted a foreigner and planned to manipulate the taxi’s GPS data to cover up the true location of the crime.
Taeil revealed his current status:
“I used to be a singer but was expelled from my company. I’m now working part-time.”
His lawyer added he is currently making a living by working at a friend’s restaurant.
