Court Rejects Baseless Allegation Regarding BLACKPINK’s Jennie

Court Slams False Claim About BLACKPINK’s Jennie

Jennie (제니) of BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) wins legal battle against a man falsely claiming to be her biological father. The Uijeongbu District Court ruled on May 9 that the man, identified as A, had no relation to Jennie and ordered him to destroy all copies of his AI-generated novel, which falsely claimed she was his daughter.

The controversy erupted last year when A published the novel, which included misleading claims on the cover. He even illegally used her agency’s logo, OA Entertainment, leading to rampant speculation among fans about Jennie’s background.

In September 2022, Jennie’s agency stated, “A has no relation to the artist. We will take strong legal action against the spread of false information.” Jennie and OA Entertainment filed the lawsuit on December 24, 2022, with the hearing occurring on April 11, 2023.

Jennie did not appear in court, but her legal team argued A’s claims severely damaged her reputation. The court confirmed that A is not listed as her father on her family registry, dismissing all his assertions.

Key court findings included A’s repeated social media claims and false statements in the novel, violating Jennie’s personal rights. The court mandated A to stop making any future references to her online and required all published copies of his book to be destroyed.

OA Entertainment called the novel "blatant fabrications" and is pursuing criminal charges to protect the artist.
