Kim Hakseong has made history as the first North Korean to officially debut in a K-pop group.
The former survival show contestant gained attention during his time on Make Mate 1, where his emotional journey moved judges and competitors alike. Although he didn’t make the show’s final lineup, Kim Hakseong debuted with the group BE BOYS.
On June 18, BE BOYS dropped their first track, I’M SO SORRY, BUT I LOVE YOU, marking Hakseong’s official entry into the K-pop world.
Before this, it was revealed in 2023 that two North Korean trainees were set to debut with the group 1VERSE, but their debut has yet to happen.
