Lee Dong-wook is set to return as a conflicted gangster in the upcoming JTBC series ‘The Nice Guy’, premiering on July 18.
The first stills dropped on June 24, showcasing Lee Dong-wook as Park Seok-cheol, a gang member with a heart. The plot follows his devotion to Kang Mi-young, played by Lee Sung-kyung, as they navigate love and dreams against a tough backdrop.
This noir melodrama reveals Seok-cheol’s struggle between his gangster life and his literary aspirations. In the recently released photos, his weary look and facial wounds depict his turbulent existence, yet a soft smile hints at inner change.
Lee Dong-wook explained his reason for taking on this role:
“I wanted to work with Director Song Hae-sung and writer Kim Woon-kyung, whom I’ve long respected. The rhythm and dialogues of the script felt new.”
‘The Nice Guy’ is directed by Song Hae-sung, known for hits like ‘Failan’, with writing by Kim Woon-kyung, famous for ‘Yuna’s Street’.
Mark your calendars! ‘The Nice Guy’ airs Fridays at 8:50 PM KST and will stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
