SEVENTEEN is breaking records in Japan. The group has just made history on Oricon’s 2025 mid-year album rankings.
Their fifth full-length album, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’, ranked No. 2 on the Combined Album Chart and No. 3 on the Album Sales Chart. These are the highest positions ever for a non-Japanese artist this period.
Released in May, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’ debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s Daily Album Chart. It crushed the charts, topping both the Weekly Album Sales and Weekly Combined Charts. In just five days, the album shipped over 500,000 units, earning Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
SEVENTEEN’s success doesn’t stop there. Their fourth Japanese single, ‘Shohikigen (消費期限 / Expiration Date)’, released on November 27, 2024, remains popular. It ranked on the mid-year Singles Chart and recently topped the Top Single Sales category on Billboard Japan’s Mid-Year Charts 2025.
Additionally, the group is gearing up for the premiere of their joint production drama titled ‘Hatsukoi DOGS (初恋DOGs)’ on July 1, airing on Japan’s TBS network. They will perform the theme song ‘Where Love Passed (愛が通り過ぎた跡)’, written and composed by member Woozi.
This is just another testament to SEVENTEEN’s soaring status in the K-pop world. Fans are undoubtedly excited!
