Another Popular SM Idol Reveals They Were Cast Through DM

Hearts2Hearts rookie Ian exposed SM Entertainment’s DM casting method in a recent interview with Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon.

Ian revealed she was contacted via DM by SM asking if she wanted to become a celebrity after posting selfies and short-form content on social media.

Hyoyeon immediately flagged the message as suspicious.

Ian’s mother, a Pinkblood fan, also thought the text looked off. She asked Ian to find out the company’s location before proceeding.

The company said it was located in Seongdong-gu. After confirming, Ian went for a camera test and debuted as part of Hearts2Hearts.

This isn’t new for SM. The agency is known for scouting idols via suspicious DMs. Fans praised Ian’s mom for her instincts.
