Elizabeth Banks is facing backlash over the new K-pop spin-off of the Pitch Perfect franchise.
On June 26, it was reported that Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions are set to produce a TV series titled Pitch Perfect: K-pop Idol. Variety broke the news, revealing this new project as part of a first-look deal with Universal Television.
The show will be penned by writer Joel Kim Booster. It follows a struggling singer-songwriter who unexpectedly auditions for an all-American K-pop group. The series aims to inject fresh energy into the beloved franchise after Bumper in Berlin, starring Adam Devine.
As the situation unfolds, fans of the original films are questioning how the K-pop twist will resonate with audiences.
