Somi is facing backlash after dropping a new concept photo for her comeback.
Somi’s digital solo comeback has already stirred up criticism. Fans called out the possible use of AAVE in her lyrics, sparking debate online.
Now, on June 27 (KST), Somi posted a moving concept photo teasing her upcoming digital single “EXTRA,” dropping July 7.
The photo immediately drew heavy fire for allegedly being created with AI. Netizens slammed the use of AI technology, citing environmental concerns and risks tied to deepfake misuse.
“Her fall from grace has been so severe” – Twitter user @wintercvnt
“maybe if your ass stopped using ai you wouldn’t be flopping this hard” – @kkudaero
“Somi please dont use AI ” – @Dangerous155
“get rid of the ai next time diva” – @ikeupedia
“the ai…….. bbg i can only do so much” – @oldfashionedjaz
Some defended Somi, pointing fingers at THE BLACK LABEL for the AI usage, not the singer.
“why are people calling somi the lazy one when it’s clearly the black label’s fault for using AI not her? she isn’t the one editing her pictures (doesn’t mean i agree with them using AI on her comeback teasers)” – @jhopesomi
“people blaming her for it… sighs somi I’m so sorry. You don’t deserve any of this” – @clairesarchive_
Somi’s “EXTRA” drops July 7 at 6PM KST. The controversy is still heating up.
