Lee Hyori reveals emotional struggles after moving to Seoul, finds unexpected cure at Shinsegae
Lee Hyori opened up about her tough adjustment after moving from Jeju to Seoul in a recent YouTube appearance with Yoo Jae Suk.
The K-pop legend said she moved with her five dogs, two of which got sick right away. She thought about going back home.
Lee Hyori also shared how her husband Lee Sang Soon’s new radio DJ job at MBC FM4U left her alone at home and feeling down.
After three months on the show, Lee Sang Soon wanted to cheer her up by buying her a Chanel bag. She had sold all her luxury bags before moving to Jeju.
She called stylist Han Hye Yeon and made a reservation to buy the bag at the Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam.
Lee Hyori admitted that getting the bag made her feel amazing.
"I was feeling really down and would say, ‘Oppa, I want to go back to Jeju,’ and he’d say, ‘Wanna go to the department store?’ There are no department stores in Jeju. I’d think, ‘What difference would that make?’”
— Lee Hyori"After doing the radio show for three months and getting his paycheck, he told me he wanted to buy me a Chanel bag. Before moving to Jeju, I had sold all my luxury bags and didn’t have a single one left. He said he had always dreamed of buying his wife a nice bag once he got married.”
— Lee Hyori“I even have a song with lyrics like, ‘What’s the big deal about luxury brands? Do luxury bags make me shine?’ I feel like I owe people an apology. When I stepped onto the escalator and saw my reflection, I was glowing. I was sparkling.”
