4th Generation Idol’s Apology Following Shocking Racist Messages Ignites Further Controversy

4th Gen Idol’s Apology After Shocking Racist Texts Sparks Even More Controversy

Xdinary Heroes member Junhan is facing heavy backlash for racist remarks and support of eugenics made in messages to fans.

On June 28, Junhan sparked outrage on the Bubble platform when he claimed Black people “have more cells in their ears” making them better at music and hearing. He then suggested combining “qualities” from Black, White, and Asian/Indian groups—a comment widely linked to eugenics, a discredited racist ideology.

The messages quickly ignited sharp criticism from K-Pop fans online.

In response, Junhan posted a handwritten apology on X (formerly Twitter) via Xdinary Heroes’ official account on June 29. He admitted his remarks were “biased” and expressed deep regret for the hurt caused.

Hello, this is Junhan from Xdinary Heroes.
First of all, I sincerely apologize for the hurt and discomfort my careless remarks have caused many people.
I’ve come to realize that what I said reflected a biased perspective, and I am deeply reflecting on it. I want to offer my sincerest apologies once again to those who were hurt or offended by my lack of historical knowledge, social awareness, and sensitivity.
From now on, I will continue to learn and grow so that I can act based on accurate understanding and knowledge.
This incident has made me more aware of the weight of my words and actions, and I will be more cautious and responsible in everything I do.
Once again, I offer my deepest apologies.
— Junhan

A post sharing the apology blew up on Korean forum TheQoo with 30,000+ views and harsh criticism. Comments called out Junhan for supporting eugenics and spreading harmful ideas.

“A Korean supporting eugenics… And trying to teach that ideology through Bubble messages… Ignorant and harmful.”
“Just from the handwriting alone, lol.”
“Wow… there are actually people defending eugenics? What’s next, praising the Nazis and Japanese war criminals too? Ugh. There’s a reason people react so strongly to eugenics.”
“The problem isn’t just a slip of the tongue, it feels like he’s expressing a belief he’s held for a long time. That’s what makes it feel real and serious.”

International fans have shown more acceptance of Junhan’s apology.

“Thank you for taking a step and recognizing the issue! I believe we all can grow and learn to be a better person! We should all get educated before speaking up about topics like this. Thank you for recognizing it! As an xh supporter, I also support your growth in knowledge! ” — Mari | LOVES JOOYEON SM !!!

“I hope you really can continue educating yourself and reflect on what you have done. We appreciate your apology. Thank you, Junhan. Please be careful next time with choosing what to share and not, and consider every topics not so lightly.” — SORA. (k.ia)

The situation remains tense as Korean fans demand Junhan show more awareness and responsibility moving forward. The controversy is still gaining traction.
