A Thai tourist in Seoul is sparking outrage after a shocking encounter with a South Korean taxi driver.
The tourist went viral for sharing a disturbing story. The driver asked if she had a boyfriend and then offered her a job cleaning rooms. Things turned worse.
He suddenly stopped the taxi and used a translation app to suggest she could “pay with her body” if she didn’t have money for the fare to Busan.
The woman reported the driver through the taxi app and shared a video online. The post has racked up over 660,000 likes.
Many netizens from both Thailand and Korea expressed horror. Korean commenters apologized on behalf of the country and urged her to go to the police.
“This is unacceptable,” one netizen wrote.
“Please report this kind of behavior immediately,” another added.
Under current Korean law, verbal sexual harassment like this is not considered a crime, causing public calls for tougher consequences.
The incident has triggered a heated discussion about tourist safety and legal enforcement in Seoul. Authorities have yet to release an official response.
