A man in his 70s was arrested for sexually harassing and attempting to kidnap a third-grade girl near her school bus stop in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do.
The incident happened around 8:10 AM on May 22, according to JTBC’s Crime Chief. The girl’s parent witnessed the man luring her with false claims like, “I’m an uncle who lives in building 302,” a building that doesn’t exist.
The suspect approached the girl for two days prior, offering her gum and toys, and inviting her to “go to the farm.” He sexually assaulted her in an alley with no CCTV coverage.
Police arrested the man six days after the incident. His car contained condoms, erectile dysfunction meds, and an unknown liquid thought to be an aphrodisiac. The black box camera in his vehicle was removed, and the liquid has been sent for analysis.
The suspect denied kidnapping charges, saying:
“The child greeted me first and I just tried to take her to the bus stop.”
He partially admitted to assault with:
“I touched her once.”
The attempted kidnapping happened just 30 meters from the bus stop.
The police sent him to prosecution on charges of attempted enticement and forced molestation of a minor under 13.
The girl’s parent commented:
“I’m worried that the man’s sentence will be reduced because he is old and it is his first offense. My daughter yells loudly and can’t calm down. She has trouble sleeping because she is anxious.”
