Super Junior is facing controversy after revealing past tensions during their appearance on JTBC’s variety show ‘Knowing Bros’ on July 12. The legendary K-pop group opened up about their 20-year journey, addressing long-standing rumors of bullying involving member Eunhyuk.
Eunhyuk said,
"It hasn’t been a smooth journey. We really had to push through."
He talked about the difficulties since their debut as Super Junior 05 and mentioned internal struggles even after member Kyuhyun joined, stating,
"Making it to our 20th anniversary almost feels unreal."
The discussion turned heated when host Lee Soo Geun reminisced about how arguments sometimes escalated to physical fights in their early days. Leeteuk shared a specific incident that fueled rumors of bullying. After a pre-recording mishap, he mistakenly hit Eunhyuk, thinking he was the culprit. Leeteuk explained,
"It turned out to be Donghae. I shouted, ‘Stop it,’ and hit Eunhyuk."
He clarified that Kyuhyun was actually the one behind the incident. Following the broadcast, the term "Eunhyuk bullying" trended online, sparking concern among fans.
Shindong expressed frustration over how their conflicts were perceived. He said,
"Even if we argue, we shouldn’t show it on stage."
Kyuhyun added,
"Afterward, Shindong… kicked a box of drinks, which ended up spilling on Yesung."
Leeteuk recalled a filming trip where tensions remained high. He said,
"We had to go to Gangwon-do to film ‘Let’s Go! Dream Team’ while still fighting."
In a heartwarming moment, they all reconciled after winning the episode, with Eunhyuk referring to it as,
"It felt like winning an Olympic gold medal. That’s how we finally made up."
Despite the past drama, Super Junior proved their bond remains strong after two decades filled with challenges.
