‘Simply K-Pop’ is ending after more than a decade on air. The beloved music show officially announced its final broadcast, marking the end of an era for rookie idols and lesser-known groups.
Launched in 2012 on Arirang TV, the program became a vital platform for emerging artists, providing valuable stage time and sought-after fancams. The news broke on July 16 and quickly spread across fan communities, accompanied by farewells for longtime MC Lee Dae Hwi of AB6IX.
Dae Hwi, who has hosted the show solo since March 2022, received waves of praise for his professionalism. This was his second major music show MC role, following M Countdown from 2019 to 2021.
Fans are heartbroken. Many took to online platforms to express their disappointment over the cancellation, highlighting the show’s importance for rookie and mid-tier idols.
“Whoa, I thought only Dae Hwi was leaving, but the whole program is ending… Dae Hwi, you worked hard.”
“I’m so sad… One precious music show is gone.”
“This is really disappointing.”
As fans reacted, they pointed out that declining viewership likely contributed to the show’s end.
“Honestly, a show needs enough demand to keep going, but not enough people were watching. It was bound to get canceled…”
“Whoa, Simply K-Pop had such great live recordings. This is such a loss.”
Many comments reflected on how the show provided a rare stage for small agency idols.
“It was the only place even really small company idols could go…”
“Now it’ll be even harder to see smaller agency idols on music shows.”
The music scene is shifting. ‘Simply K-Pop’ will be missed by fans who valued its role in showcasing emerging talent.
