BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is facing backlash for how her image was used in the marketing of upcoming film Omniscient Reader: The Prophet.
Fans noticed a sharp difference between the domestic and international posters. In Korea, actress Chae Soo Bin is front and center, while Jisoo appears smaller and in the background with the rest of the cast.
But for international audiences, Jisoo’s image was enlarged and moved to the front, putting her in the spotlight.
This sparked accusations that the film is exploiting Jisoo’s global fame to attract overseas viewers while downplaying her role in local promotions.

Many fans called the tactic misleading and disrespectful to both Jisoo and Chae Soo Bin.

Others pointed out that the director cast Jisoo mainly for her name recognition, suggesting she’s being treated “just as ‘a name’ rather than an actress.”
fuck them,i’m glad Jisoo didn’t promote with them. the director didn’t bother to even defend her from the rabid fans but rather implied that if it wasn’t jisoo, the character wouldn’t be that known, second they’re literally treating her just as ”a name” rather than an actress.

As of now, the film’s production team has not responded to the controversy over the poster edits.
Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is an adaptation of a popular web novel. It stars Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Soo Bin, and Jisoo in supporting roles. The movie is set to release later this year.
