DAY6 is facing controversy over alleged mistreatment of fans at their recent fan meeting. Complaints about ticketing and entry policies exploded online on the 21st.
The uproar began with a fan expressing frustration:
“The verification process was stricter than airport security checks, presidential elections, or bank loan screenings,”
Critics are calling out the excessive ID verification required for entry. One fan added:
“I don’t understand why the ticket holder and attendee must match exactly, with real-time physical ID verification at the venue. Sharing personal documents that include resident registration numbers and home addresses in group chats amounts to illegal collection of personal data.”
More voices joined in, denouncing the security staff’s approach. Another fan said:
“If someone is denied entry even after police verify their identity, it seems the organizers and security company are acting above the law. This is nothing short of abuse of power.”
Some attendees shared similar stories. One wrote:
“I booked the ticket under my mother’s name and brought her ID, a family relationship certificate, and my own ID, but the team leader still blocked my entry.”
Fans reacted with outrage online, posting comments like:
“This needs to be widely exposed as soon as possible.”
“That security guard crossed the line.”
“The agency must ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
Amid the backlash, DAY6 is currently holding their fourth official fan meeting, ‘PIER TEN: All My Days’, to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary. The event runs at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, starting from July 18. All sessions have sold out.
Here’s what fans have been saying on Twitter:
Just attended DAY6’s fan meeting and the entry process was a nightmare. We need to talk about this issue.
