Dex is facing backlash for his acting in the new ENA K-Drama The Defects.
The Single’s Inferno star, aka Kim Jin Young, plays Jung Hyun, a ruthless killer. Fans liked his villain role and action scenes, but his overall acting skills have come under fire.
A viral theqoo post exploded with criticism over Dex’s awkward delivery and stiff presence. Viewers called his performance “rigid,” “underprepared,” and “non-acting.”
“He’s fine being around cameras on entertainment shows, LOL. What happened to him here? Who broke him?”
“That’s some rigid acting… Dex even gets paid while practicing acting? Lucky him.”
“I was like, ‘Wow, people are literally nitpicking how he walks?’ But then I watched the video and was honestly shocked. Everything about him, including how he walks, was awkward from the start.”
“Why is he even trying to act?”
Critics pointed out his tense, almost limping walk and blank stare as major distractions, questioning if he was too nervous or just out of place.
“The character is supposed to be emotionless, so I don’t hate the acting itself, but the way he walks… Maybe he was too tense? It’s almost like he’s limping.”
“Yikes. I couldn’t even finish watching… LOL. Maybe he was just that nervous? He was completely stiff.”
“I saw someone say earlier that it’s not ‘bad acting’ but ‘non-acting,’ and I get what they meant now.”
Despite mixed reactions, some fans defended Dex’s gaze and effort but agreed he needs more training.
Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that Dex might star alongside Suzy in an upcoming K-Drama. His agency has addressed the speculations but gave no clear confirmation.
