DAY6 is facing backlash after fans were denied entry at their recent fan concert due to an overly strict identity verification process.
Multiple fans shared their experiences online, saying they were stopped from entering despite having valid tickets. The controversy exploded after a fan’s mother posted about her daughter’s ordeal at the gate.
The fan had a ticket under her name but was refused entry without a Youth Verification Certificate. Staff rejected alternative documents like a Family Relationship Certificate and even a photo of the mother’s ID. The mother had to drive back an hour to the venue but the daughter was still denied entry after arguing at the gate for three hours.
The mother said:
“After my daughter succeeded in getting tickets for the first day of the fan meeting, we waited for a few weeks and finally drove from Busan to Seoul for the show. I dropped her off at the fan meeting location and left to meet with her dad, who had plans elsewhere. But then I received a call from my daughter saying she was denied entry because she didn’t have her Youth Verification Certificate.
Since she didn’t have it, she showed her Family Relationship Certificate, but they told her they needed the parents’ ID. So I took a picture of my ID and sent it to her, but they told her it had to be in person.
I ended up turning the car around and driving about an hour back to the venue, and they still said she couldn’t enter. Why? Because she didn’t have her Youth Verification Certificate! Then why didn’t they say so from the beginning? The ticket even said my daughter’s name on it, and we showed them the certificate and mom and dad’s ID, too. They took photos of all of this and sent them somewhere. They told us that the organizer team had said she couldn’t enter. My daughter argued with them at the entrance for three hours before returning home. I still can’t believe the staff member who just looked at my daughter crying.”

JYP Entertainment responded to the uproar with an official apology, stating a third-party operator was responsible for the entrance process and mishandling of personal information.
Netizens slammed the verification rules, arguing they were excessive and unreasonable compared to other official procedures like airplane check-ins. One netizen tweeted:
“Airplane check-in is possible for minors with a student ID, and if you don’t have one, they can verify it if the parent sends documents to confirm your identity…If it’s possible for riding a plane, what kind of verification could possibly stop me from entering a concert?”
Calls for compensation grew louder, with many demanding more than just ticket refunds. Comments included:
“They better apologize and compensate for the damages.”
“They need to do more than compensate for the ticket price. How much more do they have to verify themselves?”
“This won’t end with just reimbursement. They need to compensate for the damages…this is bullying.”
“I don’t even know what would be enough to compensate for the damages…It won’t be easy to wipe away the hurt the child received from this…”
The controversy continues to gain traction as fans demand answers and proper accountability from JYP and the event organizers.
