Paramount Pictures is making waves with a new untitled K-pop movie, starring Ji Young Yoo from K-Pop Demon Hunters and Eric Nam.
The film, set for a theatrical release in February 2027, is the first major American studio movie shot entirely in South Korea. Directed by Benson Lee of Seoul Searching, the story follows a Korean-American woman who defies her family’s wishes to join a televised K-pop competition and chase her dreams.
"This film is my love letter to K-pop – its energy, passion, magic, and the incredible community behind it," said director Benson Lee.
The screenplay was penned by Eileen Shim, building on earlier drafts by Adele Lim, known for Crazy Rich Asians.
Eileen Shim commented,
"We’re thrilled to partner with Paramount Pictures on this historic opportunity."
Production involves notable figures like James Shin from Hybe America, Scooter Braun, and others.
Ji Young Yoo is recognized for voicing Zoey in a hit animated film and appeared in Amazon Prime’s Expats. Eric Nam is branching into acting with the upcoming feature Transplant and voices Aang in the animated The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.
