Will Lam shocked fans by revealing he has stage four lung cancer at just 33 years old.
The Hong Kong actor shared the news in an emotional Instagram post on July 30, 2025. His battle started in late May with a cough that wouldn’t go away after two rounds of antibiotics. A lung specialist’s CT scan showed abnormalities that led to more tests.
When his doctor looked serious during a follow-up, Will nervously asked,
“Is it cancer?”
That question became a grim reality.
Will, known for Drifting and Weeds on Fire, admitted he struggled to believe the diagnosis at first, even wondering if it might be tuberculosis instead. He’s now on targeted therapy but isn’t sure how his body will respond.
He’s stepping back from his career to focus on health.
Will has pulled out of the upcoming Banana Playhouse stage production. He also stopped promotions for his film Electrify, which now has no confirmed release date.
Despite his youth, Will has earned serious acclaim, including Best Supporting Actor nods at the Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards for Drifting.
