Girls’ Generation’s YoonA faced unexpected casting chaos with two major roles.
Both her upcoming K-Movie and K-Drama had their male leads swapped due to scandals. YoonA was set to star opposite Kim Seon Ho in the K-Movie Pretty Crazy. He stepped down after a personal life scandal. Actor Ahn Bo Hyun replaced him.
For her tvN drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty, YoonA was originally cast with Park Sung Hoon. He withdrew after backlash over a controversial social media post. Lee Chae Min took over the role.
YoonA addressed the troubles in a recent interview. She called it a sign to focus on her roles amid the turbulence.
“Personally, I focused more on thinking about my own characters. These were projects where I spent a lot of time figuring out how to best portray my roles. So even amid all the things that happened with the original male lead co-stars, I just thought, ‘I should focus on doing my part of the job well.’ Fortunately, all of my new co-stars really brought their characters to life and fit them so well, so I felt happy and grateful.”
