Jung Il Woo reveals family ties to Jung Hae In, tracing lineage to famed scholar Jeong Yak Yong

Jung Il Woo stunned fans on the August 7 episode of KBS2’s Problem Child in House 2 by sharing his elite family background. Both his parents are professors, with his mother serving as director of the Korea Textile Research Institute and cultural heritage commissioner. His sister once worked as a fashion designer.

The biggest reveal? Jung Il Woo is the 30th descendant of Jeong Yak Yong, a revered Korean agronomist, philosopher, and poet from the Joseon period, also known as Tasan. Actor Jung Hae In is the 29th descendant of the same lineage, making the two actors closely related.

Jung Il Woo said:

“We’re not of the same generation, but we were a year apart in middle and high school. I didn’t know that before our debut, but it turns out we went to the same school. We’re not some distant relatives — we’re basically family.”

Jung Hae In has also publicly acknowledged his connection to Jeong Yak Yong before.
