Park Yoochun is facing backlash for his social media posts on Korea’s Liberation Day.
On August 15, KST, the former TVXQ and JYJ member shared photos from his appearance on the Japanese music show Room 70 Residents aired on TOKYO MX. The pictures showed him smiling, doing a V pose in front of the waiting room, and standing beside the show’s host.
The controversy began because Park made these Japan-related posts on a day of significant historical importance in Korea — without any acknowledgment of Liberation Day. Netizens quickly criticized and expressed disappointment over the timing and content of his posts.
Park’s recent activities have mostly been centered in Japan, so the posts themselves weren’t unexpected. But the lack of recognition for August 15 sparked outrage among Korean fans and viewers.
Park Yoochun’s reputation in Korea has already been heavily damaged by past allegations of sexual assault and drug abuse. Despite his return to the entertainment industry, acceptance from the Korean public remains low.
