Young Posse is facing backlash after netizens slammed their recent lyrics as inappropriate for a group with underage members. The controversy centers on tracks like “soju” from their album Growing Pain pt.1 : Free, featuring lines such as “Take off your underwear” and “I’m shaking my fatty.”
The group’s youngest members, Doeun (17) and maknae Jieun (15), sparked concern given the explicit content. Fans and online voices quickly called out the agency for allowing such lyrics.
“Fans have noticed the inappropriate lyrics of some of the tracks on YOUNG POSSE’s recent album such as ‘Take off your underwear’ and ‘I’m shaking my fatty’. Specially since some members are underaged (15, 17). We urge @official_DSP and @beats_ent_twt to offer an explanation.” — @nugupromoter
Critics highlighted that the group’s debut was already “literally inappropriate,” citing past controversies over their concept and song choices.
“their debut was literally inappropriate yet people ignored it and here we are” — @_mae_liv_
“People noticed now how inappropriate everything is what young posse are doing? Their debut was inappropriate, then the GTA Theme, then the Santa Claus thingy And now this” — @Moonchildami
Fans defended the lyrics, pointing out the three adult members wrote and performed the controversial parts, not the minors.
“the 5 young posse members are the only ones credited as official writers on SOJU. specifically, the 3 adults of drinking age composed the song & are the only ones who sang the ‘shaking my fatty’ , etc. lyrics. be concerned but dont spread straightup misinfo.” — @doeunfy

However, netizens dismissed that defense, arguing the label approved the content while minors were still part of the group and involved in the songs.
“These girls are extremely talented and this is why Kpop agencies should stop debuting minor. The loophole is that they could say ‘the members writing the lyrics are not minors’; but still, there are minors in the group.” — @bulepotanx
“maybe i’m too woke but i think lyrics should be appropriate for all the members of any group and it doesn’t matter that one who wrote the inappropriate lyrics is an adult. if you wanna take a group in that direction then don’t debut with children.” — @YaayItszRhea
“hey so just bc the members have writing credits doesnt make these lyrics okay…. like theres a 15 year old in this group…. its weird and gross” — @h1keyablumes
“‘it was written by them’ that’s actually more concerning that in the entire process of writing, recording, mixing and preparing this song that the countless adults who surround them didn’t do anything to stop this song and even encouraged it” — @hellojunmin
The situation is gaining traction online, with netizens still debating the appropriateness of the group’s concept and song content given their young members. Agencies DSP Media and Beats Entertainment have yet to comment.
