Shim Eun Woo returned to the public eye after a five-year hiatus due to a false school violence accusation.
The actress confirmed she was officially proven innocent in March 2025, clearing her name after a lengthy legal battle.
Shim opened a new YouTube channel on July 5 and posted a video titled “It’s been 5 years.” She appeared emotional, thanking fans for supporting her role in The World of the Married.
She revealed she became a certified yoga instructor during her break and admitted it’s been hard landing acting work.
“I haven’t had much acting work lately. I took a break from work for about five years after facing school bullying accusations. After a long legal battle, I was officially proven innocent— it was not school violence.”

Shim tearfully reflected on the difficult years lost and said she learned what proper rest means.
“I reflected on myself a lot, and as I looked back, I saw the things I was lacking, and although it was a difficult time, I endured it well and tried to maintain my daily life,” she said.
She expressed gratitude toward fans who stayed by her side and promised to repay their support.
Shim shared that during her five-year break, she only auditioned once but is now ready to return to acting full force.
The controversy began in March 2021 when a middle school classmate accused her of school bullying. Shim had to halt all activities in 2020 just as she landed her first main lead in The World of the Married.
By March 2025, her legal team confirmed that she was vindicated and cleared of all accusations.
