Actress Jo Bo Ah recently opened up about her decision to maintain a distance from her male co-stars during a special appearance on Shin Dong Youp’s YouTube channel, Zzanbros, on May 19, KST. The actress, known for her infectious personality and charm, revealed that this choice stemmed from a simple heart emoji she had sent to a male colleague.
In a candid discussion, Jo recounted a moment when she sent a heart emoji in a casual text to her male co-star, thinking nothing of it. "He was my co-star, but I said ‘Okay. See you that day ❤️.’ I use hearts all the time, so I didn’t think anything of it. But he misunderstood me," she explained. This incident highlighted the complexities of communication and the potential for misinterpretation in professional settings.
Shin Dong Youp empathized with Jo, noting that individuals with a naturally affectionate demeanor often display this regardless of gender. However, Jo emphasized that she recognized the need for professional boundaries. "At some point while working in this field, I started to feel that acting cute toward the opposite sex doesn’t look so good. I gradually began to drift apart from my male colleagues," she stated.
During the conversation, actor Park Byung Eun humorously added, “I misunderstood too. I mean, she just goes, ‘Thank you, sunbae-nim. Love you!’ and walks off!” This elicited laughter from those present, with Shin quipping about the evolving perceptions following Jo’s marriage. Jo tied the conversation to her own life, having married in October 2024, and recently partnering with actor Lee Jae Wook in her latest series, Dear Hongrang. Meanwhile, her other project, Knock Off, faces uncertainty as it awaits resolution amidst ongoing controversies.
