Jung Eun Chae is facing renewed scrutiny over not one, but two major extramarital affair scandals from her past.
The first controversy blew up in 2020 after her rising fame in The King: Eternal Monarch. Netizens dug up her affair with vocalist Jung Joon Il, known for the OST hit “The First Snow” from Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.
Back in 2012, Jung Joon Il’s then-wife “A” revealed their six-year relationship and accused him of repeatedly cheating with Jung Eun Chae between 2009 and 2010—even after their 2011 marriage.
“A” said Jung Joon Il never apologized and pushed for divorce. She exposed everything publicly on his fan page, calling his behavior “shameless.”
Jung Eun Chae claimed she didn’t know about his marriage, which seemed plausible since his marital status was kept secret. But in 2020, Jung Joon Il’s agency pushed back, saying:

“Jung Eun Chae definitely knew about Jung Joon Il being married at the time she was romantically involved with him. It makes no sense that she didn’t know about his wife. Right now, it sounds like Jung Joon Il intentionally hid his marital status and tricked Jung Eun Chae into the relationship. This is not true at all but he is being ruthlessly criticized.”
Then in 2013, another scandal hit when Japanese magazine FRIDAY reported Jung Eun Chae was spotted dating Japanese actor Kase Ryo in Kanagawa. Kase was reportedly still living with longtime girlfriend Mikako Ichikawa at the time.
Jung Eun Chae’s agency, Blue Dragon Entertainment, denied the dating reports. They explained:
“The movie’s director Hong Sang Su and main cast, Kase Ryo, Moon So Ri, and Jung Eun Chae, planned a trip to Japan but only Jung Eun Chae went due to a schedule conflict. Kase Ryo showed her around as close friends.”
Despite these controversies back-to-back, Jung Eun Chae’s career kept soaring. After leaving Blue Dragon Entertainment, she joined KeyEast in 2019.
Most recently, she earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.
