NewJeans is facing controversy amid their 3rd anniversary celebration. Despite the festivities on July 22, the group is embroiled in a legal dispute with their label, ADOR.
The controversy began when NewJeans claimed their exclusive contracts with ADOR had been terminated. They started seeking independent activities, which gained traction in November 2022. In response, ADOR filed an injunction to validate the contracts and prevent the members from signing other deals.
“We believe in our independence,” said a representative for NewJeans.
The court accepted ADOR’s injunction request. NewJeans can’t engage in independent entertainment activities until a final judgment is made. This has led to a halt in official activities following FLEXCON in Hong Kong.
To mark their anniversary, ADOR designated July 22 as ‘NewJeans Day’. They streamed various content live on their official YouTube channel and shared unseen photos on their social media accounts.
However, the ongoing dispute overshadows the celebrations. NewJeans can’t hold special events or promotions with fans, diminishing the anniversary’s significance.
This tense situation is keeping fans on edge as they wait for a resolution. Stay tuned for updates.
