BTS Jungkook faces backlash over “Golden” live cover
A viral post slamming BTS Jungkook’s vocals sparked controversy. The idol did a live broadcast on August 31, 2025, singing several songs including “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters but performed it playfully, imitating the character Rumi losing her voice.
Fans found it funny, but a post on Nate Pann harshly criticized Jungkook’s singing.
Jungkook called ‘Golden.’ He sang so seriously bad that both Korean and international fans are in chaos, but only his fans are pretending not to see and shielding him. Total live disaster from ‘Golden’ LOL Is he really the main vocalist..? The video is too funny, howww.
The OP shared alleged negative comments from international and Korean fans on theqoo.
However, fans rushed to defend Jungkook, pointing out his achievements and the casual, unplanned nature of the cover.
“They dragged a casual moment where he was jokingly singing and tried to make it into a whole narrative that he can’t sing, just to create bad buzz and push it onto trending. He didn’t even do an official cover, it was in a female key, he didn’t even know the lyrics properly, and he just sang it playfully while laughing. Imagine how bitter you must be about your own fave’s vocals to post something like this? Meanwhile, this is a singer who was invited to perform at the World Cup opening ceremony.”
Fans highlighted Jungkook’s consistent vocal skills, including a viral encore performance with just a handheld mic that hit #1 on YouTube trending worldwide with 13 million views.
“The day before, he was shocked by that crazy stalker house invasion, then still came to do a birthday livestream, saying he hadn’t slept and felt low energy, but he sang all 10 tracks from his album until 2 a.m. At the end, he said. ‘Since I sang Golden album songs today, should I try Golden too?’ and jokingly sang the first verse.”
Fans also noted his lip piercing got caught, causing the “ah shit” moment during the live.
Critics were called out for obsessing over Jungkook’s playful moments.
“Last time on live, he casually sang Soda Pop without even getting serious, and Andrew Choi, the voice of Jinu, praised him like crazy, saying Jungkook’s tone is good and he sang really well. The video blew up on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and everyone was praising him. Antis were already super jealous then, and now they’re once again showing how burned they were LOL.”
Netizens continue to praise Jungkook’s vocal abilities despite the ongoing drama.
