SUGA is facing controversy after making a public appearance at J-Hope’s encore performance for his solo world tour, ‘HOPE ON THE STAGE’ final. BTS members RM, Jimin, and V were also present, delighting fans with the reunion.
The controversy began around SUGA‘s appearance as it marked his first public sighting since the Drunken scooter incident last August. At the time, SUGA was caught riding an electric scooter while intoxicated, reporting a blood alcohol content of 0.227%, nearly three times the legal limit. He was fined 15 million KRW (~$11,500 USD) and lost his license.
Soon after the concert, fans noted SUGA’s playful demeanor, where he made a heart gesture over his head while sporting a beanie. This behavior sparked mixed reactions online.
The comments from Korean netizens were sharply divided. Many expressed excitement over the reunion, but others scrutinized SUGA’s sudden change in attitude.
“He never did those things before. lol.”
“You’re right. He was never like that. lol.”
“It’s been a while, SUGA.”
“So brazen of him.”
“Why didn’t he just come alone during his service and just tell the fans? Now he shows up with the members. So annoying, SUGA.”
“I’m just going to conclude that everything SUGA does is fake.”
Overall, the concert was a mix of celebration and controversy. Fans are thrilled for J-Hope, but SUGA’s actions have put him back in the spotlight.
