BTS’s Jungkook revealed he is neurodivergent during a live stream on August 29. When a fan told him to stop moving while sitting, Jungkook said he couldn’t help it.
He openly shared,
Fan: Don’t move when you’re sitting down
JK: I kept moving?
JK: but, I can’t help it. I kind of… it’s like adult ADHD
JK: I have it. I keep moving like this.
Neurodivergent means brains develop or work differently, including conditions like ADHD. Jungkook’s admission puts him alongside other K-Pop idols like GOT7’s Jackson Wang, who has also spoken about having ADHD.
Fans quickly reacted, happy to see Jungkook represent neurodivergent people and hoping his honesty would stop others from judging his movements, a common coping mechanism known as stimming.
“Finally JK confirmed he is neurodivergent.
An adult ADHD spectrum.” — Twitter user @OnlyKM9795
Others expressed concern that Jungkook was pushed out of comfort to explain himself.
“Jungkook shouldn’t have been made uncomfortable and cornered into telling us he has adhd, but I hope from now on ppl can learn and stop being ableist both in fandom spaces and irl” — Twitter user @hobabylvr
Jungkook’s candid moment is sparking conversations on neurodiversity within K-Pop fandoms, especially around ADHD awareness. Fans are monitoring the situation closely.
