Fitness trainer Oh Sung Jin exposes DID and gender identity struggles on KBS Joy’s Ask Us Anything, Fortune Teller
A male fitness trainer, known as Oh Sung Jin, stunned KBS Joy’s Ask Us Anything, Fortune Teller on August 11 by revealing he has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) with multiple personalities. Oh Sung Jin appeared on set wearing a long brown wig and skirt, introducing three identified personalities: himself, a man in his 40s with 19 years of training experience; Kang Soon, a woman in her 30s representing his childhood self; and “the manager,” a protective alter guarding his personal information.
Oh revealed he has more than five personalities but only three have been identified. After seven years of psychological treatment, all his alters are aware of one another.
He also opened up about his gender identity disorder and depersonalization disorder. Despite taking testosterone injections, his female personality remains, so he began taking female hormones and plans breast augmentation and facial surgery this year. He expressed concern about financial stability post-surgery.
Oh traced his mental health issues back to severe childhood trauma. From ages five to elementary school, he was sexually assaulted. He said the trauma likely triggered his gender identity struggles, which became fully clear during his military service.
His female alter Kang Soon wants full control, but Oh Sung Jin resists. Hosts noted his plan for breast surgery only likely reflects limits set by his male personality.
He also shared his family worries — his wife and twins don’t know his full condition, but his wife has supported his treatment from the start.
“His wife had stood by him since he began his treatment.” — Oh Sung Jin’s family situation
Oh’s story has sparked talk around childhood trauma, DID, and mental health awareness on Korean TV.
